The Agronomic Research Institute of Guinea (IRAG) is the main public organization for agricultural research and development in Guinea. Its mission is to conduct research on crop, livestock, forestry, and fisheries production, as well as on agro-food processing, in order to improve agricultural practices and promote rural development.
Mandate:
· Conduct research on crop, livestock, forestry, fisheries, and agro-food processing products.
· Contribute to the preservation and improvement of natural resources.
· Support the development of national policies on rural development.
· Disseminate scientific and technical information to stakeholders.
Activities:
Research: Various research programs are underway, including those on biodiversity, food processing, rice cultivation, and more.
Research Centre: The Foulaya Centre hosts IRAG’s central laboratory for soil and plant analysis, biotechnology, and crop protection.
Partnerships: IRAG actively participates in continental research networks through its membership in the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF).
